When I arrive at 9pm for my interview, Camilla Landbø’s life is in disarray. There are rolled-up rugs slumped in the corners, piles of bags, boxes regurgitating kitchenware and other junk. The house is in its final stage of disassembly, and tomorrow she leaves the country for Paraguay, the first stop on a five-month research trip for her upcoming book. A Swiss national, Landbø has lived and worked in Argentina for the past four years as an editor and journalist for newspapers based both here and in Europe. “The first three years I only wrote about Argentina, and then in the last year I started going out of the country. Now I need to travel through these countries to really see and hear and smell these places, to find these stories. For the last half year we’ve been researching, now is the time for action.” (more…)
