A reminder about our mission…

Friday, March 19th, 2010

antony_funnell

It’s been more than a year now since we launched and I think it timely to remind you (and ourselves) of our mission. Here’s what I said in the first program back in late January 2009…

‘Our brief is to look at new developments and trends across a broad range of topic areas, and to introduce you to creative thinkers, cutting edge technologies and new approaches.

‘In coming weeks we’ll explore the concept of online bereavement; we’ll take you 60 metres below one of Australia’s major cities for a look at some state-of-the-art tunnelling equipment; and we’ll find out about an agricultural concept called ‘vertical farming’. They’re just a few of the things we’ve got planned.

‘Now, there are far too many people out there involved in promotion and spin, so we’ll endeavour, always, to maintain a critical eye.’

Are we walking the talk, as the Americans say? Let us know…

Any good examples of local (Australian) alternative currencies?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Looking for examples of alternative currencies operating in Australia. Not barter – nothing against barter, but I think that takes us into a different area.

If you have any suggestions post them here…
